This week, I’m all about supporting fellow Mexican creatives and I happen to know one of Mexico’s very promising evening gown designers, Elia Covarrubias.
I wanted to encourage you to support Mexican designers because, as you may or may not know, Mexico is a country that is full of unrecognized talent. Perhaps when you think of Mexico you don’t necessarily think that it is a place that harbors so much creative fashion, but the reality is that many of you would be surprised.
Many of today’s trends are actually inspired by the creations of indigenous people from all over Mexico. Big retailers such as Zara, Mango, Topshop, Forever 21, H&M, etc have all been following Mexican designs and patterns for the last couple of years.
Have you noticed those bright embroidery details everyone has been raving about for the last 2-3 summers? Yup, they’re inspired by the pieces created by Mexican and South American artisans. Flowers in different colors all over your tops or dresses? Probably inspired by traditional Mexican patterns also.
The truth is that Mexican fashion has evolved to a point where designers now mix tendencies from the past (such as the colorful, embroidered flowers and other patterns) with new high fashion trends. And the end result happens to be brilliant!
So that is why, today I want to talk to you about a friend of mine, Elia Covarrubias. She is an amazing woman, mother and designer that exudes femeninity and confidence in her designs.
I was lucky enough to try on a couple of her dresses and I am more than happy to show them to you on today’s post!
I truly felt super empowered and almost like a queen when I wore her designs. I think they are perfect for any big social events you might have such as weddings and formal parties.
